||Filmmaker Velcrow Ripper (ScaredSacred, 2005 AIFF) takes an insightful look at change motivated by love. All over the world, he discovers the rising movement of "spiritual activism," and the dynamic personalities who are igniting its compassionate force to reclaim autonomy, heal wounds of history, and to empower and transform themselves.
The film features a series of interviews with some of the most inspiring figures alive today, including Archbishop Desmond Tutu; Pulitzer Prize-winning Author, Alice Walker; Buddhist peace activist monk, Thich Nhat Hanh; famed tree-sitter, Julia Butterfly Hill; Hollywood celebrity turned spiritual activist, Daryl Hannah; Dharma Punk; Noah Levine and many more. With its many dramatic stories of resistance and transformation, the film reveals what is possible when human beings, faced with a world in crisis, rise to their absolute best.

This fierce workshop explores the power that is released when
spirituality is combined with action, tapping into what Gandhi called
"Soul Force" and Martin Luther King called "Love in Action." Featuring
dynamic "engaged spirituality" practices and meditations, the workshop
will offer key tools to help you move from merely surviving these
challenging times to thriving, by unleashing your own "Fierce Light."
Discover your authentic being, unwrap your gifts, and bring your
spirituality into this world of turmoil and transformation. Dare to
ask: what is the meaning of life? Learn to embody the change you wish
to see in the world.
Please attend the Fierce
Light: When Spirit Meets Action screening at the ashland
independent film festival, if possible, prior to the workshop - showing
April 3 and 4, 6:40 pm. The show is in "Rush" so show up
before the screening, and get in the Rush line for the possibility of a
ticket becoming available.
