Synopsis
Burt’s Buzz is a thoughtful, intimate, and humorous portrayal of beekeeper Burt Shavitz, the reclusive co-founder of the iconic personal care line Burt’s Bees. Director Jody Shapiro ventures into the backwoods of Maine to find Burt where he has lived off the land — and off the grid, with no running water and only a wood-burning stove in his renovated turkey coop — since the 1970s. Though Burt’s bearded face still appears on many of the brand’s labels, the real Burt sold his interest in the business nearly 40 years ago. As part of an odd and complex arrangement with his co-founder and ex-girlfriend, Roxanne Quimby, the eccentric septuagenarian continues to promote Burt’s Bees. Reluctantly, he travels around the world making personal appearances, where he’s greeted by adoring fans. [language]
