A wild boy who has grown up in the woods is found by a hunter and returned to civilization. Evocative brush and ink monochrome animation hauntingly portrays how alienated the boy is by his strange new environment. He tries to adapt by using the same strategies that kept him safe in the forest.

Mr Hublot Trailer # 1 from ZEILT on Vimeo.

A fascinating and humorous depiction of the mechanically dominated world of Mr Hublot, an obsessive-compulsive recluse who is scared of change and the outside world. With characters and objects fashioned from intricately detailed, salvaged materials, Mr Hublot’s meticulously maintained world is turned upside down with the arrival of Robot Pet, a very invasive companion.

A modern-day couple’s secret love affair comes to a bittersweet end during an evening phone call. Cell phone static creates distance between them as they anguish over the details of their relationship. But the visuals of the film reveal something entirely different: the animated reimagining of themselves as martial arts warriors in feudal China, where family influence, cultural pressures, and their desire for adventure make a different kind of sense. In this dream-like short film, love goes to war over art.

Subconscious Password
Short Film
11 minutes
Director: Chris Landreth
Year: 2013

Academy Award®–winning director/animator Chris Landreth (Ryan, AIFF06) plays Charles, a man paralyzed by his inability to remember a friend’s name. From the moment he’s greeted by...what’s his name...in a crowded bar, we are transported into his subconscious, for a mind-bending animated romp. Borrowing from the classic TV game show Password, the film features a wealth of celebrity guests offering ridiculous clues, only adding to his ever-increasing panic.

This animated film presents a subjective and surreal view of the world as we observe interactions between animals, humans, and nature, as well as anthropomorphized beasts — a fox explores particle theory and polar bears relax in deck chairs. Follow the complicated thematic thread of this fascinating visual puzzle through its unconventional narrative, with a brilliant and rousing Mozart soundtrack.
