with Gordon Quinn, Artistic Director & co-founder and directors Joanna Rudnick (On Beauty) and Maria Finitzo (In the Game)
Founded in 1966 to produce documentaries that examine and critique society through the stories of real people, Kartemquin Films serves as a home for independent media makers who seek to create social change through film. Kartemquin is internationally recognized for crafting quality documentaries backed by effective audience engagement strategies, and for its innovative media arts community programs. The organization has won every major critical and journalistic prize, including multiple Emmy, Peabody and DGA awards, and an Oscar nomination for the acclaimed Kartemquin production, Hoop Dreams.
"What I look for in the filmmakers I work with is someone who goes into a situation and is open to seeing what happens, rather than coming in with a story that they’re going to tell... And that’s what I like about the process. You never quite know where you’re going to end up.” — Gordon Quinn
