Join us for thought-provoking and engaging discussions with AIFF16 filmmakers and Special Guests.

Two legendary filmmakers, Gordon Quinn (executive producer, Hoop Dreams) and Julia Reichert (Union Maids) helped found two of the most important documentary film collectives to emerge from the Sixties. Kartemquin is celebrating its 50th anniversary and New Day has reached its 45th. The two longtime friends will discuss the birth of their organizations out of the social justice and feminist movements, the collective ethos they share, and how they have evolved and remained vital today.

Moderator: Steven Bognar has three short films in this year’s festival, showing in Art Docs.
