Join us for thought-provoking and engaging discussions with AIFF16 filmmakers and Special Guests.

In Filmmaker Magazine, director Katy Chevigny recently pointed out that independent film, particularly documentary film, has been a relatively supportive sub- culture for women directors. Dawn Porter (Trapped-AIFF16), in her keynote at the IDA conference last year, wondered “Is Better Than Horrible, Really Better?” Women documentarians have rarely made the Academy Award Best Documentary shortlist. Tangerine Entertainment producer Amy Hobby (What Happened, Miss Simone?), an exception to the rule, is among the filmmakers who will discuss the current state of women artists in the indie and mainstream worlds.

Moderator: Debra Zimmerman, Executive Director Women Make Movies.
