In Jeremy Rourke’s shows, anything is possible. His combination of vintage photographs, contemporary imagery, text—and even unlikely materials such as rose petals, fire and water—magically create moments of beauty and surprise. This show will feature stop motion animation, time lapse video, sound samples, audio loops, quotes, songs, singing bowls, and experimental interactions between Jeremy, his media, and you.
I create animations and videos for original music and vice versa. I score my live performances with field recordings and ambient sounds. I sing the animations alive. The transitions between songs are also spaces. These are spaces for friends, for phone messages paired with time-lapse videos, fog, birds in flight, paper puppets, walking in my backyard. These have become works on their own; in the amalgamation there is a new unity. — Jeremy Rourke
