Ever wonder what this whole "Second Life thing" is all about? Step inside this illuminating film and enter a world of collective action, protests, capitalism and issue of free speech and land use.  This international phenomenon is a microcosm of e-commerce, entertainment, shopping and cyberlebrities and may be the future of all our social interactions. In 2003 Linden Labs created Second Life, an Internet-based virtual world in which users create an alternate identity (avatar) and meet and interact with other virtual world residents. Since then it has grown from a few thousand people to over 5 million users.
We are introduced to participants and their virtual alter-egos including a couple who use the virtual world to remake their own real world lives, the biggest and most controversial virtual real estate developer in the world, muckraking virtual journalists, online entrepreneurs and fashionistas. International experts discuss the social and economic implications of virtual worlds on the real world and leave us to question: how will this new technology change us?
