Local Free Program
Thursday 4/1 and Monday 4/5 – 12 NOON

The ashland independent film festival aims to support local filmmakers, and this year there are many local productions among our official selections. At 12 noon on Thursday and Monday we will present four of these films in a free program. The world premiere of Crater Lake: Mirror of Heaven produced by Southern Oregon Public Television will be screened. Two animated shorts by a Southern Oregon University professor and an SOU student will also be featured, as well as a film on the Klamath River.

Opening Night "Meet the Filmmakers" Reception
Ashland Springs Hotel, 212 East Main Street, Downtown Ashland
Thursday, April 1, 8:00-11:00 P.M.
$40/$35 aiff Member

After screening the opening night films, stroll up the street a block to the beautiful Ashland Springs Hotel for the opening night reception. This is your chance to meet the talented filmmakers whose works are being featured at the festival. Live music by the Ed Dunsavage Duo will set the mood as we wine, dine, and celebrate great independent filmmaking. In addition, we will auction off the original winning artwork from the poster/program art competition.

Filmmaker Q & A - Immediately After Each Screening
The Filmmakers of many of the official 2004 aiff selections have chosen to attend the festival. They will be at as many of the screenings of their film as their schedules allow, ready to take your questions about the filmmaking process: from the initial idea to the final cut. We at the ashland independent film festival believe interaction between filmmaker and audience is an essential part of the creative process and we encourage your participation in this dialogue at the Q & A after each screening.

Free Filmmaker Forums
Friday, April 2, 10:00-11:30 A.M.: Feature Film Forum
Saturday, April 3, 10:00-11:30 A.M.: Shorts and Student Film Forum
Sunday, April 4, 10:00-11:30 A.M.: Documentary Film Forum
Moderator: Darrel Pearce
Varsity Theatre
FREE Admission -- no tickets required

Wake up a bit early for the Film Forums—lively panel discussions with attending filmmakers. With sessions on features, documentary films and student and short films, each day will feature a wide ranging, lightly moderated forum/discussion. Join us as filmmakers discuss the vision and creative process of their projects as well as the challenges of getting started, financing, producing, directing, editing and all that follows.
Bring your questions, experiences and comments and engage some of the people who fill the darkness in the theater.
