ASHLAND INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL Ashland, Oregon - USA April 2 to 6, 2009
The 8th Annual ASHLAND INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL (AIFF) presents a spectacular program of independent film over five eventful days, in Ashland, Oregon...a locale hailed one of 1000 Places to See Before You Die, and deemed "a dream you'll never want to leave" by the Washington Post.
Year after year, over 90% of AIFF's screenings sell out to enthusiastic, arts-oriented audiences. Juries have included representatives from Sundance, AFI, the San Francisco Chronicle, LA Weekly, and IDA. Filmmaker Judy Irving attests, "THE WILD PARROTS OF TELEGRAPH HILL was rejected by all the big festivals. After Ashland, we got two distribution offers and now our film is among the highest grossing docs of all time."
Emerging filmmakers and industry icons alike repeatedly place Ashland at the top of their festival experiences. AIFF honoree Albert Maysles declares, "I have received many honors; none of them have touched me as deeply and soulfully," and Tom Quinn (THE NEW YEAR PARADE) gushes, "This festival was absolutely incredible; add it to your circuit!"
MISSION AND OBJECTIVE The AIFF is committed to presenting multiple screenings of 80+ independent films of all genres, and equitable treatment of filmmakers, no matter the length of the film or the resume.
MORE ABOUT THE FESTIVAL Exhibiting filmmakers are treated like rock stars at the Festival, and receive travel stipends, lodging at boutique hotels, and an all-access pass to screenings, parties, and other festivities. Events include the Opening Night Gala which features local wine, beer, and gourmet food, and the Awards Celebration where winning filmmakers are honored alongside industry legends such as Henry Jaglom, Bruce Campbell, Helen Hunt, and Albert Maysles.
As Ernest Hardy of the LA Weekly summarizes, "[The AIFF is] well on its way to being one of my favorite American film festivals, period. It's the almost perfect blend of programming, audience and location."
