Armory Crew
  • 16 hours total
  • Two 8-hour shifts
  • Includes viewing films, if not needed for assistance
  • Set up & Strike

  • Ability to lift 40 lbs

Ashland St Cinema Crew
Hours vary depending on position assigned.

Award Tally
  • 8 hours total
  • Three 3-hour shifts
  • Tally Audience Award ballots
  • Light office tasks
  • Answer phone, walkie-talkie
  • Run errands on foot
  • Customer service skills
  • Concentration, attention to detail
  • Some periods of inactivity

Box Office
  • 40+ hours total
  • Includes Pre-festival trainings
  • Three pre-festival 4-hour shifts
  • Five festival 5-hour shifts (one each day of festival)
  • Includes additional benefits
  • Sell tickets, memberships, et al on computer
  • Box office experience or strong computer skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Weekday availability
  • Familiarity with AIFF preferred
  • Required Training

Delivery Crew
  • 8 hours total (counts as full volunteer)
  • Morning, lunchtime or evening shifts (one shift each day of the festival)
  • Perfect for teams of two, or we can pair you
  • Pick up and deliver coffee/food   
  • Use of your own car (mileage reimbursed)
  • Ability to do some lifting
  • Age 18+

Hospitality
  • Only eight positions available
  • 12 hours total
  • Three 4 hour shifts
  • Check-in and act as Host for filmmakers and guests at Hospitality Suite
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Light cleaning, bussing
  • Knowledgeable about AIFF and Ashland
  • Age 21+

House Manager
  • 25-28 hours total
  • Three 8+ hour shifts
  • Includes viewing films at assigned theater
  • Manage procedures, patrons, and cleaning in assigned theater
  • Monitor films as they play
  • Introduce filmmaker Q&As
  • Friendly manner & strong customer service skills
  • Comfortable with public speaking
  • Leadership skills a must
  • Weekday availability
  • Required Training

On-Call Sub
  • 12 hours total
  • On-call one full day of festival (8:30a-8:30p or 11a-11p)
  • Includes viewing films during shift as available
  • Sub for any volunteer area (except Box Office, House Manager, and Transportation)
  • Use of your own car (mileage reimbursed)
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs
  • Own (vibrating) cell phone
  • Willingness to fill in anywhere

Party Crew
  • 12 Hours total
  • Shift lengths vary
  • Choose from one of two Party Crews:
Crew 1. Oscar Night Gala (3/4) AND Opening Night Bash Crew (4/12)
OR
Crew 2. Awards Celebration Crew (4/15)
  • Set up and strike
  • Sell and serve food & drinks
  • Age: 21+
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs
  • Long periods of standing
  • Customer service skills

Photography
  • Approx. 8 hours total (counts as full volunteer)     
  • Includes admission to some films and parties as assigned
  • Work off an assigned shot list
  • Take Photos used in Souvenir Program, on website, social networking sites, and more (all credited)
  • Advanced skills (must provide link to portfolio)
  • Must have own digital camera
  • Flickr proficiency
  • Social Networking knowledge

Production Crew
  • 12 hours total
  • Pre-fest, during fest, and post- fest shifts available
  • Behind-the-scenes support
  • Set up and strike venues, transport equipment and supplies
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs
  • Some periods of standing
  • Use of your own car helpful, not required (mileage reimbursed)

Rush Ticket Seller
  • 8 hours total (counts as full volunteer)
  • Five 1.5 hour shifts (one each day of festival)
  • Sell Rush tickets outside Varsity Theatre
  • Collect/track cash sales
  • (No computer use required)
  • A friendly, efficient manner
  • Ability to do basic math quickly
  • Standing outside in all weather
  • Required Training

Sidewalk Crowd Control
  • 9 hours total (counts as full volunteer)
  • Six 1.5 hour shifts (one each day of festival)
  • Keep order in lines, direct patrons outside Varsity Theatre or Ashland Street Cinema
  • Friendly presence, assertive manner, strong customer service skills
  • Ability to use “outside voice”
  • Standing outside in all weather
  • Knowledge of festival helpful
  • Required 1 hour on-site training

Transportation
  • 12 hours total
  • Shift lengths vary
  • Transport filmmakers/guests
  • Drive AIFF minivan between airport and festival sites
  • Use of your own SMART phone
  • Occasional use of your own car (mileage reimbursed)
  • Customer service skills
  • ODL and insurance
  • Age 25+
  • Some periods of inactivity

Usher
  • 12 hours total
  • Three 4-hour shifts during the festival
  • Usher at Varsity Theatre or Ashland Street Cinema
  • Greet and assist patrons
  • Hand out and collect ballots
  • Friendly manner & strong customer service skills
  • Long periods of standing
  • Some periods of inactivity
  • Customer service skills

Willcall
  • 12 hours total
  • One or two 4-hour workday shift(s) pre-fest
  • One or two  4-hour shift(s) during fest
  • Hand out WILLCALL packets
  • Sell merchandise
  • Friendly manner & strong customer service skills
  • Some lifting
  • Weekday availability
  • Familiarity with AIFF /Ashland

Year-Round Office Support
  • 12 hours total
  • Four 3-hour shifts (flexible scheduling)
  • Opportunity for more hours/ benefits  
  • Assist with general office projects
  • Run occasional errands 
  • Computer skills helpful
  • Willingness to help with a wide range of tasks
  • Use of your own car helpful, not required (mileage reimbursed)
