Synopsis

Social issue documentaries call attention to inequity in our society—and reveal, investigate, and shed light on some of the most pressing problems of our time. Filmmakers invited to participate in this panel have tackled diverse issues such as police whistleblowers, ISIS’ genocide plan, corrupt campaign nance, and the toxicity of masculinity.

Moderator: Claire Aguilar is Director of Programming & Policy at International Documentary Association (IDA), one of the Indie Institutions honored by AIFF this year. Claire is the former Director of Programming and Industry Engagement at Sheffield Doc/Fest. At the Independent Television Service (ITVS), she served as Executive Content Advisor and Vice President of Programming.
