World Premiere

The Pajarito Mesa is a breathtakingly beautiful but perpetually trash-ridden swath of desert overlooking Albuquerque, New Mexico. It is also home to over 250 families living without access to basic services. Making something out of nothing, residents of Pajarito build their lives from the scraps that others have thrown away. They hope that through their hard work, they will see change in their lives and their community. Una Nueva Tierra traces the struggles of three families as they recycle what others have cast off while they themselves are cast to society’s margins, unable to make even the most basic progress due to their poverty. When you watch Una Nueva Tierra, we want you to feel like you’re in the car with Carlos, in bed with Vanessa, Mario, and Dinaho, and on the mesa beside Bura. We want you to trust them as we trusted them; as they trusted us. In the radically divisive times in which we live, we believe that it has never been more important to build bridges between human beings. Una Nueva Tierra is the best bridge that we know how to build, and we hope that it will complicate your ideas of those living in poverty in America today.
