Director(s): Helen Hunt
Fri 6:00 pm Armory

Academy Award-winner Helen Hunt (As Good as it Gets) makes her directorial debut and stars with a cast that includes Colin Firth (When Did You Last See Your Father, 2008 AIFF; Love Actually), Mathew Broderick (The Producers) and Bette Midler (Beaches). April, a schoolteacher who was adopted at birth, wants to have a baby of her own- a desire made stronger by the fact that she never knew her biological mother. A snag in her plans presents itself when her sweet but immature husband announces one night that their marriage was a mistake, leaving April devastated and bewildered.

With her life in disarray, one more surprising bolt is thrown April's way in the form of an eccentric talk show host, who declares herself to be April's birth mother. Despite the influence of her newfound mother and a relationship with the father of one of her students, April's once simple life begins to spiral out of control. This funny and moving story follows one woman's very unlikely path towards personal fulfillment. Helen Hunt will be in attendance for Q&A following the screening.
