Every third Monday of the month, two sisters, Rachel and Cynthia, open their salon to women undergoing chemotherapy. Synopsis
They are gleaners, living on the absolute edge of our society. You see them on almost every street corner, combing through the garbage, scooping through the slime. The prize they pursue? Empty bottles and cans — each discarded container worth five cents at the redemption center. Redemption is about New York City’s “canners” — the unemployed men and women whose new profession is redeeming bottles and cans they collect in the richest city in America.
