We will match your interests, talents and availability to our needs. We'll do our very best to place you in one of your top area choices and appreciate your flexibility.

ASHLAND ST CINEMA CREW
  • Hours vary depending on position assigned. 
    • Sidewalker or Usher (~12 hours)
    • House Manager (~25 hours)

AWARD TALLY
  • 12 hours total
  • Four 3-hour shifts
  • Tally Audience Award ballots
  • Collect ballot bags from Varsity and Armory

BOX OFFICE
  • 40+ hours total
  • Three 4-hour shifts pre-festival & one 5-hour shift each day of festival
  • Includes additional benefits
  • Sell tickets, memberships, etc.
  • Box office experience or strong computer skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Weekday availability
  • Familiarity with AIFF preferred
  • Pre-festival Training
HOSPITALITY
  • 12 hours total
  • Three 4-hour shifts during festival
  • Check-in and act as Host for filmmakers/guests at Hospitality Suite
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Light cleaning, bussing
  • Knowledgeable about AIFF and Ashland
  • Age 21+
HOUSE MANAGER
  • 25-28 hours total
  • Three 8+ hour shifts
  • Includes viewing films on shift
  • Manage procedures, patrons, and cleaning in assigned theater
  • Monitor films as they play
  • Introduce film and moderate Q&As
  • Friendly manner, strong customer service skills
  • Comfort with public speaking
  • Leadership skills a must
  • Weekday availability
  • Pre-festival Training
MEAL DELIVERY
  • 10 hours total
  • One shift each day of the festival: morning, lunchtime, or evening
  • Perfect for teams of two, or we can pair you!
  • Pick up and deliver coffee or food
  • User of your own car
  • Ability to do some lifting
  • Age 18+
OFFICE SUPPORT
  • 12 hours total
  • February through May
  • Four 3-hour shifts (flexible scheduling)
  • Opportunity for more hours/benefits
  • Assist with general office projects
  • Run occasional errands
  • Computer skills helpful
  • Willingness to help with a wide range of tasks
  • Use of your own car helpful, but not required
ON-CALL SUB
  • 12 hours total
  • On-call one full day of festival (8:30a-8:30p or 11a-11p)
  • Includes viewing films during shift, when available
  • Sub for any volunteer area that doesn't require additional training
  • Ability to get to any venue ASAP if called 
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs
  • Reliable, vibrating cell phone
  • Willingness to fill in anywhere
  • Pre-festival training
PARTY CREW
  • 1 or 2 parties; 7-9 hours each
  • Shift lengths vary
  • Parties include:
    • Opening Night Bash (4/16)
    • Awards Celebration (4/19)
 
  • Set up and strike
  • Sell and serve food/drinks
  • Age: 21+
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs
  • Long periods of standing
  • Customer service skills
  • OLCC license helpful, but not required
PHOTOGRAPHY
  • 12 hours total
  • Assigned to specific shot list
  • Take photos used in catalog, on website, social networking sites and more (all credited)
  • Advanced skills (must provide link to portfolio)
  • Must have own digital camera
  • Social networking knowledge
PRODUCTION CREW
  • 12 hours total
  • Pre-fest, during fest, and post- fest shifts available
  • Behind-the-scenes support
  • Set up and strike venues, transport equipment and supplies
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs
  • Some periods of standing
  • Use of your own car helpful, not required
RUSH TICKET SELLER
  • 10 hours total
  • Five 2 hour shifts
  • Sell Rush tickets outside Varsity Theatre
  • Collect/track cash sales
  • No computer use required
  • Friendly, efficient manner
  • Ability to do basic math quickly
  • Standing outside in all weather
  • Pre-festival Training
SIDEWALKER
  • 9 hours total
  • Six 1.5 hour shifts
  • Keep order in lines
  • Direct patrons outside Varsity Theatre or Ashland Street Cinema
  • Friendly presence, assertive manner, strong customer service skills
  • Willing to use “outside voice”
  • Standing outside in all weather
  • Knowledge of festival helpful
  • Required 1 hour on-site training
TRANSPORTATION
  • 12 hours total
  • Shift lengths vary
  • Transport filmmakers/guests in AIFF minivan between Medford airport and Ashland
  • Use of your own smart phone
  • Occasional use of your own car
  • Customer service skills
  • Oregon drivers license and proof of insurance
  • Age 25+
  • Some periods of inactivity
USHER
  • 12 hours total
  • Three 4-hour shifts
  • Usher at Varsity Theatre
  • Greet and assist patrons
  • Hand out and collect ballots
  • Friendly manner
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Long periods of standing
  • Some periods of inactivity
